Do you have a commitment to responsible alcohol retailing? Want your premises to stand out from the rest? Then choose the BIIAB Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing (ARAR)!
Aimed at any staff working in licensed premises, ARAR covers the basics of licensing law and social responsibilities, e.g. dealing with drunken behaviour and the law in relation to children on licensed premises. *new* In partnership with our friends at Addaction, we're delighted to announce that the course now includes a whole section specifically around drugs & what to look out for on your premises!! This fantastic new part of the course comes at no additional cost, and covers more criteria if your premises is working towards the 'Best Bar None' or 'Pubwatch' schemes.

Essential Information:

  • Fees include all associated study material, ½ day training course & examination
  • Self-study of the handbook & is essential
  • Our interactive training course refreshes your knowledge & examines good practice
  • The examination is a multiple-choice question paper
  • The examination requires all 3 questions of part one to be answered correctly, and 14/22 in part two to be answered correctly
  • BIIAB centrally marks all candidate answer sheets
  • Exam results are usually available 2 days following the exam

If successful, candidates received their certificates approximately 10 working days after the examination.

Re-sits

In the event that you do not pass the examination, we are able to offer re-sits within 2 weeks of receiving your results from BIIAB. This includes re-sits for those who previously attended the examination elsewhere. Candidates are not required to attend the course again, and need only attend for the examination.

The re-sit fee for the APLH examination is £35 per delegate.

2011-2012 Licensing Course Programme

In addition to customised training, we also run a set training programme. Our 2011-2012 ARAR training course dates are as follows:

  • Tuesday 23rd August 2011
  • Wednesday 23rd November 2011
  • Thursday 16th February 2012
  • Wednesday 14th March 2012

All courses run from 9:30am – 2pm (exam time: 1:30pm), and are held at our Luton offices.
